You will obtain an understanding of why the timely and accurate completion of motor vehicle paperwork is vital to the success of the dealership.

The Accounts Payable Clerk
The accounts payable clerk plays an active role in monitoring and controlling expenses with the dealership. It is a challenging position that interacts with dealership personnel from every department (sales, service, parts, F&I, body shop, general accounting, payroll administration, and the accounting manager). This position will challenge your grasp of accounting concepts, such as accrual accounting and matching revenues with expenses. These concepts will be followed by making sure that vendor invoices are posted timely, accurately and in the proper accounting period. You will learn to reconcile these vendor invoice documents to the vendor statement and the dealerships accounting records. You will learn the importance and benefits of a purchase order system and how that system impacts the accounts payable desk.

The Payroll Clerk
The payroll administrator plays an important role in administering the policies and procedures of the company with regard to employee benefits. These benefits can include salaries and wages, retirement plans, life, accident, and health insurance. The administrator is involved with maintaining the proper records of each employee from the initial interview, employment with the company and ultimately separation from the company via terminiation, resignation, or retirement. The payroll administrator's responsibilities can impact an employee or prospective employee's overall perception and satisfaction with the company. As a result the position is a highly visible and key component of the dealership team. You will become familiar with the various forms used in the personnel/payroll area, their importance and their applications. This position works closely with management because of the sensitive and confidential nature of the position and its impact on overall dealership operations. It is a cahllenging and rewarding position on the dealership team.

The Accounts Receivable Clerk
The accounts receivable clerk plays an active role in establishing, monitoring and collections of accounts receivables. The position interacts with dealership personnel from every department (sales, service, parts, F&I, body shop, general accounting, payroll administration, and the accounting manager). This position will challenge your grasp of accounting concepts, such as accrual accounting. These concepts will be followed by making sure sales revenue and the accounts receivable are recognized in the proper accounting period. You will learn to reconcile accounts receivable statements, interact with the general public, wholesale customers, and employees who set up in-house charges. You will learn how different areas of the dealership can initiate and set up accounts receivable balances and the importance of the accounts receivable desk when monitoring and following up on this process.

The Inventory Clerk
The inventory clerk plays an important role in the management of new and used vehicle inventory. It is a position that will interact with dealership personnel from the used vehicle department, the new vehicle department, the car deal desk, accounts payable, the service and parts departments, other dealerships, and even the manufacturer. After completing this course you will be able to recognize a variety of automotive forms, maintain manufacturer invoice and certificate of origin files, stock vehicles into your dealerships inventory system, review repair orders that effect vehicle costs, and assist with lender inventory audits.

The Warranty Clerk
The warranty clerk plays a key role in monitoring and collections of receivables due from the manufacturer. These receivables are generated from repair work performed on customers vehicles that are covered under various insurance policies (warrantied). The warranty clerk plays a key role in the dealership because the volume of activity generated from these warranty repairs can be considerable. This position will challenge your grasp of accounting concepts, such as accrual accounting. These concepts will be followed by making sure sales revenue and the accounts receivable are recognized in the proper accounting period. You will learn how to reconcile activity statements from the manufacturers that reflect which repair services are currently being paid, which will be paid in the future and which have been rejected for reasons specified by the manufacturer or insurance company.
